The Vines
Our wine embodies the essence of a place, a marriage of soil and sun, a union of roots and rock.
In Paso Robles, California, our Grenache vines stand as sentinels of the region’s terroir, thriving in limestone-rich, calcareous soils under an unrelenting sun. These soils, soaking up winter rains like a sponge, nourish the vines through the hot, arid summer months, ensuring resilience and depth. We cherish low yields to concentrate the grape’s characters, evoking purity from each cluster through careful selection of clones and sites. From north-facing slopes we preserve acidity and dark color; from south-facing hills, bathed in warmth, we draw rich, spice-driven fruit. East and west aspects intertwine further nuance, blending bright florals with earthy depth. Though not identical, our calcareous soils share a kinship with the fabled terroirs of Burgundy and Châteauneuf-du-Pape, imparting ageworthiness and tension, while Paso’s heat brings richness and spice—Grenache is the perfect lens to translate this singular terroir, where the hands of our growers are as vital as the land itself. We strive to source all our grapes from dry-farmed vineyards, a practice that conserves water and intensifies the grape’s natural sugars and lively acidity. Our grower partners, devoted stewards of their plots, nurture these vines with sustainable and organic methods, enriching the soil and sustaining the land for future generations. Each vineyard, whether storied or newly planted, reflects their quiet devotion—a confluence of hands and purpose bound to the soul of the land.
